Jennylyn Mercado Covers FHM Philippines November 2009 Issue

After sexy celebrity mom Valerie Concepcion graced the cover of FHM Philippines last month, it's another hot momma's turn to scorch the readers of the leading men's magazine, and it's no other than Jennylyn Mercado.

The cover story on Jennylyn has the subtitle: The versatile star unleashes a howler of a comeback. This is the second time that the Starstruck winner graced the cover of FHM Philippines. The fist time was last January 2008 when she was 1 month pregnant.

Last time we were shooting you there was a siege at the Manila Peninsula…
Yes. Ngayon naman, super typhoon Pepeng! Hindi ko nga alam, bakit kapag ako yung may pictorial parang laging nagkakataong merong gulo, merong bagyo, merong something na nangayayari. I hope hindi naman ako malas. Ha ha ha!

But after Ondoy hit, instead of playing lady in distress, we heard you were among the number of people who did heroic work.
Um, hindi naman. Well, kasi our house is on Vista Real Avenue in QC. Yung village namin yung pinaka-peak ng valley; from our house makikita mo yung buong Marikina, as in ganun kataas yung bahay namin. Nung afternoon na bumabagyo, makikita mo from our house yung flood: tubig na lang talaga; kaunting bubong na lang tapos brown water na lahat. Before that, I was watching TV tapos nakita ko si Jennica Garcia on Startalk, nanawagan siya, humihingi ng tulong. Nag-alala ako kasi alam kong kapitbahay ko siya, sila yung next village down, and kailangan niya ng tulong. Sabi ko kung may maitutulong ako just tell me. Open yung house ko. Welcome yung buong family mo. Wag kayo mahihiya, text mo lang ako.

How nervous were you for them?
I constantly checked on their condition. At first, nagre-reply pa siya but then nung gumabi na, hindi na ako nakaka-receive ng text so medyo kinakabahan na ako. Nanonood ako ng 24 Oras, ng Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho, tapos news pa uli. Talagang sinubaybayan ko lahat. Then at 1AM, nung ako na lang ang gising sa bahay, may nag-doorbell na. Sina Jennica na nga at ang buong pamilya nila. So pinapasok ko sila, gave them towels, clothes, slippers, food, pinainom ko ng milk, coffee, tea. Tapos pati mga kapitbahay na kasama nila, I let them all in.

So you were suddenly a one-woman relief center.
Maraming tao. Pero kasi sino pa ba yung magtutulungan kung hindi kami-kami lang din naman.
What would you have done if the odds weren’t in your favor?
Siguro kung sa amin nangyari, hindi ko alam gagawin ko, lalo na’t may maliit akong baby. Hindi ko na siguro iisipin yung mga gamit ko, iisipin ko na lang si AJ, magpa-panic talaga ako!
